I want to make my computer a server and upload a web page from it. I need a complete guide. If its not possible the best free web hosting sites.

If you are a true novice and don’t want to spend much time learning how to make a site, I would suggest the current super-popular MySpace. You can quickly get your information up for all your friends to see.
If you are interested in something more, but still fairly simple try GeoCities or Yahoo.
If you are willing to learn HTML I would suggest ATSPACE.COM. You can create a website for FREE up to 50MBs in size. I have two websites through them and the uptime is great. NO ADS, NO BANNERS. You’ll need an ftp program to upload your stuff. There’s a good free one for personal use called “FTP Explorer”. Of course you’ll either need to learn HTML or use one of the WYSIWYG programs like FrontPage or DreamWeaver to actually design your site. E-mail me if you need some help…
If you want your own domain and have it hosted, I suggest ReadyHosting. You get 1GB of space unlimted e-mail accounts, FTP access and domain name registration all for $99 a year.

Free web hosting help please?
I’d like to start a web page for a youth group, and put a link to it on the church website. For now it needs to be free. We’re trying new ways to get information out to everyone and let the rest of the congregation see what’s going on in the life of the youth. I’d like to put pictures on the site, and maybe keep a blog, or log of whats going on up to date. Simple is fine, free is best. If this idea works and people enjoy it we’ll look into a real website. What I’d like from you are some examples or links to free web hosting sites. I know enough html to make things interesting, but I’m no webmaster. Please help

There are going to be some people that are going to answer this question suggesting that you go straight to paid hosting but I will tell you that if you want free hosting then I will point you to free host. Two free ones that I have pointed my clients to are 000webhost and x10 Hosting, both are very reliable and have a lot of space for you to use.

Best Web Hosting Site for Business?
Hi – I currently use ZyWeb as the web hosting service for my business (really an organization/association). ZyWeb seems to be very dated, and the templates are very restrictive. I am very computer literate, but not so much in web hosting/design. I can play around and figure things out, but I have no idea how to edit HTML codes or what that does. I would love a service where I could start with a template, but still move things around – and make it my own. For example, instead of just being able to type text into the correct spot, be able to move the header into the middle of the page (not that I would want to do that, just an example). Not a requirement, but would be nice. I just need the basics for the most part. Good customer service. Any web host suggestions would be great. If you have a website with one and wouldn’t mind sharing – I’d appreciate that too! The main one I’ve heard of so far is Host Gator.

Most of the free hosting service have a “add banner” (advertisement linked in your site) and you can’t get a free domain name, you only get a free hosting and subdomain, I know one free hosting without advertisements added to your site is http://www.50webs.com it’s pretty good enough, and you get a free email too, all you have to do is create go to the site and create your account, when you sign up make sure to choose the option below
* Free (totaly free no adds)
* use a subdomain (other options are not free)
after creating your account, you can upload now the website you created from frontpage, in file manager, zip files or individual files.
