Started a business, best site building and hosting service?

I recently started a t-shirt business and am looking to sell online. I am a beginner when it comes to site building, hosting and such. Is Yahoo a good provider for a start-up business as far as web design, hosting, effectiveness, ease of use, etc? Is there better out there that is also inexpensive? Thanks people of Yahoo answers.

Help! I’m usually the technologically savvy one, but when a friend of mine asked me what web hosting company would be best for their business, I had no idea. Starting a small business.. Can anyone offer advice on web design/hosting options?

I am a novice to all this and I want to start a small travel company that specializes in odd places. I want to design a web site or have one designed for a reasonable cost, but have no clue where to even start. I bought the name from one site, but don’t know if I needed to do that? So, any thoughts on best sites to design for free or inexpensively & hosting?

As a senior, the application process has already been initiated but I am lost and don’t know where to start. Quite frankly I don’t feel ready for college. I am still 16 and most of my peers are beginning their Junior years.

Throughout high school I have maintained decent academics but external pressures have suppressed my involvement within the community.My circumstances shouldn’t excuse my lack of participation but they have hindered me in maturation and in standing out in college applications.

My parents divorced in 9th grade; and as a result I was transplanted half way across the country to Texas. With no friends for the majority of my freshman year I kept mostly to my self. As the year progressed I became good friends with two people who would later change for the worst. During sophomore year my two best friends turned to drugs and alcohol and I was caught in the middle of it. Before you judge me, I never smoked or did any drug, but I was involved heavily with people that did. My best friend was busted for selling ecstasy and had to spend two years in an alternative school and the other just dropped of the face of the earth. I exerted my best effort to help them but nothing I did ended up working. Professional intervention was the only thing that could help. To add to that , the last straw that almost broke me was finding out my uncle only had 2-3 years left to live before his terminal brain cancer would kill him, leaving a young family to fend for them selves. That aside, I also spent that year living under the wing of an abusive boyfriend who espoused my mom. Fast forward to junior year and I started to branch out and become more sociable. In October I was diagnosed with mono and spent 19 days out of school, jeopardizing my grades and was on the verge of repeating junior year due to attendance. Once I recovered from my mono, it was too late as clubs where established and I was extremely tired following the school day.

Now that I am better, I intend to make the best of my senior year. I plan to join BPA and another volunteering club to help boost my extra curriculars for college, but I fear it is to late. Applications are already starting and I am in between a rock and a hard place.

If you were in my situation, what would you do? I can give you a list of colleges I want to apply to and my “stats” for analysis. Do I have any chance of attending these universities or is my future ruined?

what is the best solution for webhosting/ecommerce when it comes to starting an online business.

right now i have an account with host-gator. I tried the whole yahoo stores/ebay stores {prostores} and hate the generic templates along with the monthly fee for using them. I just want to install my own shopping cart, from my knowledge i gained so far i like zencart and oscommerce, maybe cubecart.

Hi – I currently use ZyWeb as the web hosting service for my business (really an organization/association). ZyWeb seems to be very dated, and the templates are very restrictive. I am very computer literate, but not so much in web hosting/design. I can play around and figure things out, but I have no idea how to edit HTML codes or what that does. I would love a service where I could start with a template, but still move things around – and make it my own. For example, instead of just being able to type text into the correct spot, be able to move the header into the middle of the page (not that I would want to do that, just an example). Not a requirement, but would be nice. I just need the basics for the most part. Good customer service. Any web host suggestions would be great. If you have a website with one and wouldn’t mind sharing – I’d appreciate that too! The main one I’ve heard of so far is Host Gator.
